2003 featured No Pan Intended, pacing's Triple Crown champ, from Peter Pan Stables, Ohio and trained by Ivan Sugg, Deshler, Ohio. Get the 2007 Grand Circuit schedule.

Harness Racing's Grand Circuit began to develop in 1871, when racing officials from three different state tracks met to form a seasonal racing competition.

It ran for the first time for Standardbreds in 1873. Purses today for the Grand Circuit total into the multi-millions. In that first season, four tracks compiled prize money totaling $169,000.

Now a continental affair, Grand Circuit racing fledged into a program that attracts the best of harness trotters, pacers, and drivers in North America.

The 2007 Grand Circuit begins at Freehold Raceway in New Jersey on May 4 and runs through May 12th. The season ends in November in The Meadowlands, East Rutherford, New Jersey, which hosts events from November 16 through the 24th.

The season includes 19 competitions.

If you haven't read my profile, I'll tell you I'm an Ohioan (oh, yeah, a Buckeye) and a Henry Countian. Harness racing's most crowned champion, No Pan Intended, is a New Jersey-bred owned by the Peter Pan Stables in Pepper Pike, Ohio. He was trained by Henry County's own, Ivan Sugg, of Deshler. Sugg was voted into the Ohio Harness Race Hall of Fame for his lifetime work.

No Pan Intended is the only harness horse to ever win both the Triple Crown (2003) and the Breeders Crown (2004). The last Tripler was Blissful Hall (1999).
