12:50 – Southwest-racing.com Selling Hurdle – 2m 3f 110y
A P McCoy rode Sun Quest to victory in the first race of the day, winning by a margin of 3 ¼ lengths. The 6/4 favourite quickened towards the end of the race and was pushed out to secure the win for trainer Tim Vaughan. 3/1 second favourite Devito claimed second place, ½ a length clear of 5/1 shot Critical Stage in third.
13:20 – Charmed Hole Publications Beginners’ Chase – 2m 7f 110y
A thrilling finish to the second race of the day saw 7/2 second favourite Itsa Legend come out on top under the mount of W Hutchinson. The A King trained winner rallied approaching the last fence and won it on the line by a short head, beating second placed 1/4 odds on favourite Big Fella Thanks. Of the four starters, these were the only two to get round with Jethro Wheeler at odds of 100/1 and Killing Me Softly at 40/1, both pulling up before the finish.
13:50 – John Mohide St James’s Place Novices’ Hurdle – 2m 1f
The P J Hobbs trained Clova Island was an impressive winner of race three under the ride of jockey D P O’Dwyer. The 4/1 second favourite led with two fences remaining and ran on strongly to win by six clear lengths ahead of 8/15 odds on favourite Thundering Star. A further ¾ of a length back claiming third place was 16/1 hopeful Triple Bluff.
14:20 – H.b.i.b. Novices’ Chase – 2m 3f
Having finished as runner-up in the previous two races it was third time lucky for the pairing of jockey Sam Thomas and trainer Paul Nicholls in race four. Evens money favourite Herecomesthetruth made all the running to win by two clear lengths. 7/1 shot Pressgang claimed second place, a full 30 lengths ahead of 25/1 hopeful Hill Forts Timmy. Of the five starters, only four finished with Ameeq coming home some distance behind the rest at odds of 40/1. 6/4 second favourite Kia Kaha was a faller with three fences remaining.
14:50 – Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Hurdle – 2m 3f 110y
Jockey Sam Thomas was straight back in the winners’ enclosure after race five, as he rode Theatre Diva to victory, this time for trainer Miss Venetia Williams. The 9/1 shot led with two hurdles remaining and was ridden out to win by 2 ¾ lengths. Archie Gunn claimed second place at odds of 7/1 with 8/1 hopeful Laustra Bad a further 10 lengths behind in third. The 4/5 odds on favourite R De Rien Sivola came home in fifth place, with 6/1 second favourite Mexican Pete finishing one place better in fourth.
15:20 – Weatherbysshop.co.uk Handicap Chase – 2m 3f Jockey
D Jacob rode Charming Oscar to victory at odds of 7/1 in the penultimate race of the meeting. The R H Buckler trained 6 year-old raced clear after the final fence to edge out 7/4 favourite Ping Pong Sivola by a length. A further 16 lengths behind was 7/2 second favourite Bermuda Pointe who claimed third place.
15:50 – Watch Live On Channel 432 Standard Open NH Flat Race – 2m
It was an impressive victory in the final race of the day for the Paul Nicholls trained Gullible Gordon. The 5/2 favourite raced clear with three hurdles remaining to win easily under the mount of jockey Harry Skelton. Kayf Aramis took second place at odds of 13/2, a clear 13 lengths behind the winner. 4/1 shot Bertie May was ½ a length back in third, whilst 3/1 second favourite Its Tough was the last of the finishers, down in eighth place.
