Lingfield Park in Surrey hosted a seven-card race meeting on Tuesday 2nd December 2008, with the first race getting underway at 12.30pm.

12:30 – Bet at Ladbrokes.com Amateurs Handicap – 2m

The opening race saw a 14-horse field led home by the G L Moore trained Wyeth under the jockeyship of Joshua Moore. The 11/4 favourite won by 4 ½ lengths from second placed 14/1 shot Cragganmore Creek. The 5/1 second favourite Go On Ahead, finished a further length behind in third position.

13:00 – Fred & Ron Gibson Memorial Handicap (Div 1) – 6f

The second race of the day also saw the market leader head the rest home, as the D W P Arbuthnot trained Shared Edge won by the narrowest of margins. Jockey Martin Dwyer guided the 15/8 favourite into the lead in the final furlong to hold on for the win by a neck from 9/1 shot Bollin Franny. Tyrannosaurus Rex, the 9/2 second favourite finished down in fifth place.

13:30 – Fred & Ron Gibson Memorial Handicap (Div 2) – 6f

Lost All Alone at 6/1 trained by D M Simcock won by ½ a-length from Fantasy Fighter after making virtually all the running before pulling into a clear lead in the final 2 furlongs under jockey M Halford. TheLittle Fizzer finished third, ahead of 4/1 second favourite What Katie Did and 7/4 favourite Muktasb in fifth.

14:00 – Play Poker at ladbrokes.com Novice Stakes – 6f

The M Salaman trained odds on favourite Rulesn’Regulations took the fourth race of the day at 2.00pm. The 8/11 favourite under jockey Jimmy Quinn, led over 1 furlong out and was ridden clear to win easily by 1 ½ lengths from the 7/2 second favourite Satwa Street. Third place went to Head Down, backed at 4/1.

14:30 – Play Poker at ladbrokes.com Nursery Handicap – 1m

The tables were somewhat turned in the next race as 2/1 second favourite Thin Red Line beat 15/8 favourite Clerk’s Choice by ¾ of a length. The Eddie Dunlop trained 2 year-old made all the running under Jamie Spencer and was able to quicken up over the final 2 furlongs to hold off the challenge of the favourite. Colagnik claimed third place at 9/2.

15:00 – Play Bingo at ladbrokes.com Handicap – 1m

The penultimate race of the day saw the favourite back in the winners enclosure as George Baker rode the 6/5 market leader to victory by a neck. The W J Knight trained Titan Triumph held off a late charge by 9/2 second favourite Premier Danseur to secure the win. Third place went to Wavertree Warrior at 7/1 after a photo finish with 8/1 shot Twilight Star.

15:30 – Play Casino At ladbrokes.com Handicap – 1m 2f

Favourite backers were celebrating once more; as George Baker rode his second winner in a row in the shape of 5/1 joint favouriteWellington Square. The H Morrison trained 3 year-old ran on well to lead into the final 50 yards to edge out the 13/2 backed Emperor Court by ½ a length. In a tight final race finish, Summer Winds at 8/1 trailed in third by a neck, but held off Risqué Heights at 15/2 by a head. The 5/1 co-joint favourite Star Choice finished at the back of the field in twelfth place.
