Lingfield Park's All Weather course hosted an eight-card race meeting on Sunday 7th December 2008, with the first race getting underway at 12.00pm.

12:00 – Play Coral at coral.co.uk Apprentice Handicap – 5f

Thoughtsofstardom took the opening race of the day under the mount of jockey Luke Morris. The P S McEntee trained 7/2 second favourite led into the final furlong and kept on well to edge out 7/4 favourite Joss Stickby ½ a length. A further ¾ of a length behind was Sarah’s Art at 4/1, claiming third place.

12:30 – Coral Play Blackjack in Shop Handicap – 1m 2f

A tight finish in the second race of the day saw the A W Carrol trained Can Can Star win by a head thanks to the persistent jockeyship of S W Kelly. The 7/2 second favourite won by a head from 4/1 shot Siena Star. The front two were ridden clear of Barton Sands in third place, 2 ½ lengths behind. 9/4 favourite Sea Cliff was fourth.

13:00 – coral.co.uk Handicap – 1m

The Miss Gay Kelleway trained Star Strider was an impressive winner of race three under jockey George Baker. The 6/1 backed winner raced away from the field to notch up victory by 2 ¼ lengths. Yakama claimed second place at 16/1, with 8/1 shot General Feeling running home third. Favourite at 10/3, AegeanPride was down in sixth place, with 5/1 second favourite Piccolo Diamante in eighth.

13:30 – Coral Bet by Phone 0800 242 232 Handicap – 6f

The Game was a comfortable winner in the fourth race of the day, taking victory by 4 lengths. Jockey R Kingscote helped the 5/2 favourite into an early lead, and stayed there to claim victory for the Tom Dascombe stable. 16/1 shot He’s A Humbug finished in second place, ½ a length clear of Dvinsky, backed at 8/1. River Thames, the 4/1 second favourite finished down in sixth place.

14:00 – Watch UK Racing Live At cotal.co.uk Maiden Stakes – 7f

The R Kingscote and Tom Dascombe team combined again in race five to notch up their second win of the meeting. 6/4 favourite Yellow Printer won by ½ length from 2/1 second favourite Cabernet Sauvignon. Joannadarc, a 66/1 outsider just lost out by a neck to finish in third place.

14:30 – Play Coral Slots in Shops and Online Handicap – 7f

The closest finish of the day saw three horses separated by a short head and a head, with Bazroy claiming the spoils in the sixth race. The P D Evans trained 16/1 outsider took the race on the line under jockey S Donohoe, just edging out 7/2 second favourite Markab. 15/2 shot Whistledownwind was in third place, with 9/4 favourite Decameron down in sixth.

15:00 – Coral on Channel 4 Teletext Page 611 Handicap – 1m 4f

Favourite backers were celebrating once more as Ryan Moore guided 13/8 favourite Grande Caiman to victory. The Richard Hannon trained 4 year old won by 2 ¾ lengths from 11/2 shot Slip. Third place was claimed by King’s Head at 14/1 with 2/1 second favourite War Of The Roses off the pace, finishing down in sixth position.

15:30 – Coral Play Blackjack in Shop Handicap – 1m 2f

The final race of the meeting saw R Kingscote and Tom Dascombe team up once more to secure victory through Saucy. The 9/2 shot won by a length to give jockey and trainer their third win of the day. OldRomney, the 9/4 favourite finished in second place, ½ length clear of 3/1 second favourite Majehar in third.
