Kempton Park in Middlesex hosted a seven-card race meeting on Wednesday 10th December 2008, with the first race getting underway at 18.20pm.
18:20 – Book Now For Boxing Day Handicap – 1m 2fThe opening race of the evening meet went the way of 7/2 second favourite Risqué Heights. The J R Boyle trained winner held on well in the closing stages under the mount of Dane O’Neill, to edge out 4/1 shot Valdan by a neck. 50/1 outsider Yvonne Evelyn finished 2 ¼ lengths behind the runner-up to claim third place, whilst 3/1 favourite Artreju came home a disappointing twelfth and last. 18:50 – Afm Services Data Centre Construction Handicap – 5fDarryl Holland rode Bookiesindex Boy to victory in race two of the evening, winning by a margin of ½ a length. The J R Jenkins trained winner backed at 9/1 was weakening towards the finish, but held on to beat 6/1 hopeful Thoughtsofstardom. The 2/1 favourite Musical Spirit finished a further ¾ of a length back in third place, with 7/2 second favourite Woodcote down in eighth. 19:20 – Digibet Maiden Auction Stakes – 1m 2fOcean’s Minstrel won race 3 of the meeting under jockey J M O’Dwyer. From the stable of J Ryan the 6/1 winner pulled clear in the final furlong and kept on well to win by ½ a length. Outsider Mile High Lad claimed second place at odds of 50/1, ¾ of a length ahead of 12/1 shot Special Bond. 7/4 favourite Eastern Warrior finished down in ninth after being hampered early on, with 11/4 second favourite Thefillyfromepsom coming home one place better in eighth. 19:50 – Digibet.com Nursery Handicap – 1mThe 5/1 second favourite Holberg from the Mark Johnston stable, took victory in the fourth race of the night. Under the mount of jockey John Egan, the 2 year-old winner rode clear of second placed 8/1 shot State General, to record a victory of ½ a length. Caravan Of Dreams claimed third place at odds of 16/1 a further ¾ of length back, whilst 9/2 favourite Global finished down in ninth place. 20:20 – Digibet Casino Maiden Stakes – 6fDarryl Holland rode his second winner of meeting in race five, this time for trainer Miss Gaye Kelleway. Billy Hot Rocks raced home at odds of 5/1 to win by ½ a length ahead of 3/1 second favourite Maid Of Ailsa. 16/1 outsider Monte Cassino was a further length back claiming third place, with 2/1 favourite Celtic Spring 3 ½ lengths behind in fourth. 20:50 – Book Kempton Tickets on 0844 579 3008 Classified Stakes – 6fThe team of jockey J D O’Reilly and trainer J O’Reilly helped Greek Secret to an impressive win in the penultimate race of the evening meet. The 10/1 shot won by a clear 2 ½ lengths ahead of 20/1 hopeful Rosie Cross back in second place. Fantasy Fighter, the 11/4 favourite claimed third place, a further ½ a length back, whilst 9/2 second favourite Elkhart Lake crossed the finish line down in eighth position. 21:20 – City & Suburban Parking Handicap – 1m 4fBlockley was the final winner of the night with an impressive 2 ¾ of a length victory for trainer Ian Williams. The 13/2 shot rode clear in the final stages of the race under the mount of S Donohoe to beat second place Colonel Sherman, backed at 9/1. A further 1 ¼ lengths behind was Fantasy Ride who claimed third at odds of 11/1. The 7/2 favourite Fenners finished down in seventh place, with 5/1 second favourite The Little Master coming home in ninth.
